This past week, the awesome folks at Breezer Bikes brought by two new Repack 27.5" bikes for us to try out. Breezer is a new brand for us at Giantnerd.com, so we were really excited to try them out.
Justin and myself decided to head down to Matthew Winters Park after work to get a test ride in. We chose Matthew Winters Park for its varied terrain and technical rocky sections to really see what this Fox Float 160mm travel suspension system was all about. This was the first time that either of us had tried a 27.5" bike, having ridden 29ers for the past few years. Initial impression was a smooth and easy climb, which is not always the case with full suspension bikes. The 650b wheels had no problem climbing the rocks, and we were quickly at the top of the trail. When the Breezer rep told us the new headtube angle would make on the Repack would make this thing climb like a dream, he wasn’t joking. This bike can climb!
Now it was time for the fun part, downhill! We switched the Fox Float Suspension system from Trail to Descend, and got ready to bomb the downhill. The 740mm wide handle bars made switchbacks a breeze, and kept us in complete control. The smooth acting suspension made the rockiest portion of the trail more fun than ever, while the 650b wheels cornered like a dream. After blasting through the final line of windy single track the ride was over too soon, and the sun was going down.
After the first test ride, we never want to give these bikes back! They are awesome in every possible way. The handling is incredible, and they climb even better than a lighter hardtail. We are just happy our Breezer rep is gone for two weeks on business so we can hit some more trails. Until next time happy riding!
